Are to trying to access facebook desktop login on your mobile phone? If you want to access the desktop version of Facebook on your smartphone, and it does not matter if it is iPhone or Android. You can do it. But you need to change a few of your settings. Don’t worry this is quite an easy tutorial, I have made a few screenshots on my phone, so you can easily do it.
UPDATE: Lately, I have kept receiving messages if I can write up the tutorial also for iPhone and iPad users. So if you are trying to do this on your iPhone or iPad, either try method number 2 or scroll down to the bottom of this article, where is it explained step by step on how to do this same thing on iPhone and iPad.
How to load the Full Desktop Version of Facebook on your mobile device
If you are wondering, if you can do this on your mobile Facebook app, you are unfortunately wrong. I wish they have made this part of their app, but they did not. You will need to use your browser app to do it.
When you open Facebook on your smartphone in any browser, you will be redirected automatically to the mobile version of their site. Also, depending on the app you have installed on your phone, it might even ask you to switch to their app.
And we do not want to do that; we would like to open the full desktop version of the Facebook website.
There are two methods on how to do this
Both of these methods are relatively quick, only one or two minutes to do it. But the first method works on all devices, and the second one for some reason does not always work. If you are not an android user, you might be using a different browser than I do, but the settings are pretty much the same. But you can scroll down this article and read step by step, how to do this on iPhones and iPads.
Method number 1 to open the full facebook site in 2 steps
This is the “more time-consuming method,” but it works on all mobile devices, and you can do this in less than two minutes.
Step number 1:
Open your favorite mobile browser, in my case; it will be google chrome app. But you can do this in opera, safari, and Mozilla for sure. But I would bet that most of the other less known browsers have the same feature that we are going to use in google chrome.
Step number 2 to access the full facebook site:
Now when your new tab is open in your popular mobile browser, you need to go to the right upper corner of the app and click on the dots. And there should be a setting with text “View As a Desktop Site.” Or something with similar meaning, depending on the browser you are using.
Now you have to type in facebook.com, and you should be able to see the full web version of their website. And not the lite mobile version. The only one thing you need to keep in mind at this point is to never click on the facebook logo. If you click either on the Facebook logo on the top left of the site or your profile name or profile photo, the browser will try to detect if you are using a computer or a mobile browser. And if it finds out that you are using your mobile phone, it will try to redirect you from the browser to your mobile FB app.
This works well on my android phone; it is almost the same speed as I have on my computer. But this tutorial also works for iPhones, Blackberry, and it should also work with Windows phones. Just the app might be slightly different, but to my knowledge, all of this browser has this setting.
Btw: No, you don’t have to do it in incognito mode, which is in my screenshots, I just used that, because I did not want to log off my account.
Try this for better FB Desktop experience on your phone
If you are tired of minimizing and maximizing the FB site on your phone because the display is way smaller than on your pc, for which this version was coded. Put your phone sideways. I always do this when opening desktop sites on my android phone. It does not work on every website, but in this case, the user experience is way better if you hold your phone sideways. Enjoy.
Method number 2
This one might seem a lot easier than the first one. But there is a good reason why I did not list this option as the number one method because this does not work in all countries and on all mobile devices the same.
But if you type in your URL on your mobile phone https://www.facebook.com/home.php. It should automatically load the full desktop Facebook site. But the problem is if you are not logged in into your FB account. In that case, it will open a facebook mobile login version of their site. In that case, log in and try to open the URL I have mentioned again, and you should see the full facebook desktop site without any need to log in again if this does not work for you. I am sorry, but there is nothing you can do. You will have to choose the method number one, which works on all mobile devices.
How to Open Desktop Version of Facebook on iPhone and iPad easily
If, for some reason, method number two did not work for you, or you don’t like it.
Follow this 5 step tutorial:
- Open Safari browser app
- Visit facebook.com
- Click on the “share” button within the safari app
- Click on “Request Desktop Site”
- Enjoy your Desktop Version of Facebook
